From the East Sands (a Blue Flag beach) the path crosses the swing bridge and through the harbour. One route leads over the cliffs and past the Castle with its bottle dungeon. In the middle ages, archers practiced at Bow Butts. The other route runs through the town with its many attractions.

The path runs behind the Old Course Hotel and follows the Fife Cycle Way along the road to Guardbridge. A footpath leads to Coble Shore point with good views of the Eden Estuary. Guardbridge is the lowest bridging point on the Eden, dating to 1419, and once a busy harbour. The Visitor Centre overlooks the upper estuary, a nature centre and SSSI of international significance for birdlife.
