The Tay Bridge to Wormit Bay - 3 miles (5km)
This section is easy walking along pavements and runs along the sparsely populated North Coast of Fife. The landscape and resulting land use in this part of Fife are quite different from the rest of Fife.

Wormit Bay to Balmerino - 2.6 miles (4.2km)
This section, which starts at Wormit Bay Car Park and some of the path is stepped and steep. Most of the path is unsurfaced. The path around the bay has been resurfaced to allow multi-use access to Peacehill Point. From here to Nether Kirkton the path is unsurfaced, steep and stepped in places.

Balmerino to Newburgh - 11 mile (17.5km)
This section is on roads and unmade track, steep and remote for much of its length. Start at Balmerino Abbey where you can park at the roadside. There are also some optional loops offering circular walks off this section of the Coastal Path.
